About Ceres+

Landscape Architecture & Design

Ceres+ is the landscape architecture and design studio of Ceres. Our work lives at the intersection of ecology, architecture, and lived experience — shaping landscapes that respond carefully to site, climate, and the ways people move through and inhabit the land.

We design with the understanding that landscapes are not static compositions, but living systems that evolve over time. Every project begins with close observation and listening: to the land itself, to the surrounding context, and to the people who will care for and live with the space. From this foundation, we develop clear design intent that guides decisions from concept through implementation.

A Design Philosophy Rooted in Place

At Ceres+, design is grounded in a deep respect for place. Mountain environments, in particular, demand humility — an understanding of weather, soil, water, and seasonal extremes. Rather than imposing a singular vision, we allow these conditions to shape the work.

Our landscapes are quiet by design. They are meant to belong to their setting, not compete with it. We prioritize restraint, proportion, and material honesty, allowing landform, vegetation, and architecture to work together as a cohesive whole.

A Design Philosophy Rooted in Place

Systems Thinking, From the Start

Systems Thinking, From the Start

We approach landscape architecture as a connected system rather than a collection of isolated elements. Circulation, grading, planting, irrigation, drainage, and long-term care are considered together from the earliest stages of design.

This systems-based approach helps ensure that ideas are not only compelling on paper, but viable, durable, and responsive in the field. It also allows us to anticipate how a landscape will change over time — how it will grow in, weather, and be used — and design accordingly.

Design in Continuity With Construction and Care

As part of the broader Ceres team, Ceres+ works in close collaboration with Ceres Landcare throughout the life of a project. This continuity informs our design work in essential ways.

Because our designs are built and maintained by teams we work alongside every day, we design with real-world knowledge of construction methods, materials, and long-term stewardship. This shared responsibility allows design intent to carry through clearly, reducing compromise and strengthening outcomes.

Collaboration as a Design Tool

Collaboration as a Design Tool

Strong landscapes are shaped through collaboration. We work closely with clients, architects, builders, engineers, and artisans to ensure that landscape design is integrated, legible, and aligned with the broader project vision.

We value open dialogue, clear communication, and mutual respect. Design decisions are strengthened when multiple perspectives are held in conversation — always guided by the needs of the site and the people who will live with it.

Landscapes That Mature Gracefully

Our goal is not to create landscapes that impress on day one, but landscapes that grow more meaningful with time. We consider how spaces will be used season to season, how plant communities will establish and evolve, and how materials will weather and age.

In this way, design becomes an act of stewardship — setting a framework that allows the landscape to settle in, adapt, and endure.

Our Role

Our Role

Ceres+ serves as the design voice within an integrated design–build–care continuum. We hold the long view, balancing creativity with responsibility, and imagination with restraint.

The landscapes we design are intentional, place-driven, and deeply connected to the land they inhabit — shaped not to dominate, but to belong.

Testimonials

What Our Clients Say

Words from homeowners and property partners who have worked with Ceres and Ceres Landcare in the Vail Valley and across the Mountain West.

Ceres is a very professional and organized landscape design, installation, and maintenance company. This level of work is especially great for property owners such as myself who are new to an area and not on site all the time. I am looking forward to future projects and a long term relationship.

Peter Sallick

One of the things I appreciate most about Ceres Landcare is their attention to detail and thoughtful design. They take unique considerations into account, like choosing deer-resistant plants and creating beautiful gardens with lower water needs. They're also friendly, reliable, and always a pleasure to work with.

Kathy Ferguson

We had seen some work that Ceres had done on other homes in our area that we were impressed with and we were looking to do a big project so we decided to reach out to them.

They were very responsive to any requests we had and were willing to let us be very involved in the process.

Kathy Mears

We began working with Ceres as we decided to update and improve our landscape. Cait did a wonderful job with the design and planning. She listened to our suggestions and adapted to our budget and needs. We are mid progress on the renovation due to winter's weather.

We also began working with Carrie as our maintenance manager. She has been a joy to work with — regularly checking in and offering suggestions and listening to our concerns. I compared the costs of maintenance with Ceres to past years' costs, and found them to be surprisingly in line. All of this with fewer worries and a great looking yard.

What has stood out most to me about the experience of working with Ceres Landcare are the professional people, their quality work for us and their flexibility. Many times I have had Ceres leaders walk my resort properties with me to develop bids for side projects that came up. This has included landscape repairs for specific owners and particular lawn enhancements for our building grounds. I even brought in Ceres to hang Holiday Lights at one of my properties when I was in a bind. Ceres Landcare is a great partner for me as a property manager.

East West Resorts

After buying our house, we wanted the landscape design to accentuate the house's recent renovation. I was told that if I wanted the best in the Vail Valley, Ceres was the way to go.

From the design process to the final execution of the plan, everyone at Ceres approached the project with creativity, professionalism, and with great attention to detail. We could not have been more impressed with the entire team.

Ceres created an exterior living space for us that has become the family's favorite hang-out spot. Apres-ski around the fire pit, looking over to the mountains … well it doesn't get much better than that.

Trust Ceres! They will design something beautiful and follow through with the utmost professionalism.

Everyone was amazing … but Chris's attention to our project day in and day out was really over the top. And, the lead on the installation crew! Jose Manuel who set all the boulders!!!!

Working with Ceres Landcare transformed our backyard into one of the most beautiful outdoor spaces in Eagle.

When we purchased our home in Eagle, Colorado, we wanted to completely reimagine the backyard and create an outdoor environment that would feel both beautiful and natural to the surrounding landscape. We were introduced to Ceres Landcare through the manufacturer of our copper spa, who highly recommended their work. From the very beginning, it was clear that we were in excellent hands.

Working with Ceres was an exceptional experience. Adam Dudek, manager of the construction division, and Kathy Aalto, landscape architect, along with their talented team, were instrumental in bringing the project to life. Their creativity, attention to detail, and exceptional communication stood out throughout the entire process. They were responsive, collaborative, and consistently focused on delivering the highest quality work.

Ceres completely transformed our backyard. They designed and installed beautiful native plants and trees, striking rock features, fencing, and seamlessly integrated a stunning spa and magnificent fire pit into the landscape. The finished result feels perfectly suited to the mountain environment while also being incredibly functional and welcoming.

The transformation has significantly enhanced how we use and enjoy our outdoor space. What was once an ordinary yard has become a place where we gather with family and friends, relax, and truly appreciate the beauty of Eagle and the surrounding mountains. Many people who visit have told us that it is one of the most beautiful yards in Eagle.

For anyone considering a landscape project in the Vail Valley, we cannot recommend Ceres Landcare highly enough. Their professionalism, creativity, and commitment to excellence are truly outstanding.
